1.表示不理解，意為：這是為什么? 這是怎么回事? 如：
A：He says he won’t go with her? 他說他不會同她去。
B：How’s that? 這是怎么回事?
A：I don’t think I shall be able to get to see himafter all. 我恐怕見不到他了。
B：How’s that? 為什么?
A：I’ve decided to sell the house? 我已決定把房子賣掉。
B：How’s that? 為什么?
2. 用來詢問看法或意見，意為：可以嗎? 行嗎? 滿意嗎? 你認(rèn)為怎么樣? 如：
How is that for an apple? 吃個蘋果怎么樣?

3. 沒聽清對方的話時，請對方再說一遍，意為：你說什么?請再說一遍。如：
